The recording is about a half step down from this. The mutes sound best if done with your fretting hand, 
but you can palm mute if you can make it sound ok. Also, it's hard to tell whether or not, where I've 
tabbed Cadd5 and Am7, you should actually just keep muting all the strings except the high e string.

The variations in the muting pattern and the random F chord in the outro make me think that John hadn't 
quite figured out how he wanted to play this when he recorded it, so feel free to do what's easiest for you.
