there are two ways you can play this song. the easy way (with a capo)
or the hard way.

first comes the easy way:

Capo on the Third Fret:

then play these chords and notes as you would if the third fret were the open fret:
D: XX0232
G: 320033
A: X02220

The hard way:
replace those chords with the real chords that they are:
D (its really an F) : XX3565
G (its really an A#): X1333x
A (its really a C) : X3555x

i recommend you get a capo.

intro:
D G

riff:
A:-----------------0-------
E:-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2---------

D G
the rain fell all night and it kept me awake
D
it was still falling by morning.
G
it was hard to take.
           A
and you were sleeping on the floor,
G
breathing free and even,.
     D
if i ever want to drive myself insane,
      G A
all i have to do is watch you breathing
       D G
and at 5 AM, i turned the radio on,
       D G A
and an old mans voice sang a short sweet song,
             D G
and then the static roared again hungry for blood
D
i heard the rain falling from the rain spout
G
down down into the sweet wet mud,
        A
and you punched out all the windows
G
and the wind began to wail
      D
and you gathered your hair behind your head
     G A
like god was gonna catch you by the pony tail,
             D
and then the old voice crackled through the static.
G
and i felt young and alive
   D
and the hair stood up on the back of my neck
        G A D
we were rising from the grave, yeah yeah.
