You can throw a capo on 1 and just play the open chords, but I think the bar chords sound better.  
As for the strumming, play along with the guitar version of the song before moving on to the Casio version, as the Casio version's chord's are double-time.

The guitar on the recording is very sparse.  He often just plays power chords.  
If you want to strum a little more, replace the Bb5 chord with a Bbsus2 chord.  It sounds fine.
