Updated: the below is mostly correct, but I found that two changes will more closely match how John plays this song.

First, tune everything down a whole step, so that normal E = D
Second, change the "D" chord (actually B- (or with new tuning C#-) minor sus4 add6, I think) as follows:

e--0
B--7
G--7
D--9
A--0
E--x

This is my favorite Mountain Goats song, and I haven't seen it posted anywhere else. Enjoy.

Historiography

I don't know if it's the way Darnielle tuned it, or the Panasonic,
but this song is played in kind of an off tuning.
I just tabbed it in a normal key for convenience. Also,
I think the first chord might technically be an inverted Bm,
but I'm not sure, so I'm just calling it a D.

we were talking about nothing
a little rain
a little wind
quiet cold cold air coming in

and that's all i remember
and the rain was light and it felt soft on my face
and that's all i remember
and the car was quiet inside
and that's all i remember
and it was dark when the sunlight was coming
and that's all i remember
